Become a Fitness Instructor

Before jumping in and getting your Personal Trainer certification, test out the industry and become a fitness instructor first. Generally speaking, to become a fitness instructor at a studio you do not have to go through the same certifications as what you will need to become a Certified Personal Trainer. To become a fitness instructor:

What You Need To Be a Personal Trainer

While it may be easier to become a fitness instructor if you are serious about making it in this career getting certified as a Personal trainer will be important. To become a personal trainer, there are a number of different ways you can learn what you need to know to become a great trainer for your clients. Here are a few tips of mine, before we dive into the nitty-gritty certifications. If you want to become an online personal trainer, you should keep in mind the following tips:

  • Remember that your clients are REAL humans, with REAL feelings and emotions.

  • Focus on training people in your area of expertise and interests. If you like to work with women over the age of 55, don’t try and design your business and programs for 25-year-old fitness competitors.

  • You will need to train your courage muscle. To be a successful online personal trainer,  you will need to lead by example and be courageous

  • Get clear on what your goals are for the next 1-3 years (financially, personally, etc.)

  • Embrace technology to make your life easy!

Personal Trainer Requirements

Being an online personal trainer means you still need to be a certified personal trainer; I am sharing a few requirements which you must have in place to run a successful business.

Why? Without legitimate certifications, you do not have the experience, expertise or safety coverage to be able to successfully train your future clients.

  • Sign up for a respected accredited Personal Training certification. Keep your certifications current!

  • Keep, and maintain CPR, first aid and annual liability insurance.

  • Commit to at least one continued education certification every 6 months so you can stay on top of the game when it comes to health and wellness.
