Should you be counting Macronutrients or Calories?

Trying to decide weather you should be counting Macronutrients or Calories can be as confusing as trying to decide if you want sweet or savoury (impossible decision).

Firstly, a Macronutrients or "Macro" refers to carbs, fats and proteins. The three basic components of every diet. 

So how do you make the switch from counting just calories to now counting all of those things each day?

Keeping a food journal used to be a great option however with advancements in technology; there is an app that you can rely on for this.

MyFitnessPal is the most user-friendly, easy to navigate app I have found. You can alter the nutrients you want to track, create and save meals and you can plug you exercise and water intake in to keep you on track.

Search for foods and ingredients, select how much you consumed and save it in your diary for the day. Once you have recorded everything, you can “complete” your day and it will provide you with a breakdown of calories, protein, carbohydrates and fats.
