Team Building with Dunnebells: 13km Super Spartan Race leads to great success. Grab the tissues!

These days anyone can put a Spartan team together, but to build a team, one that is strong and that works well together to achieve incredible things, it takes a lot more. When it comes to Dunnebells, the community is everything and over the years what we have achieved wouldn’t have been possible without the unique, engaged, passionate and driven team. Imagine the biggest challenge that you can. I guarantee you this team can conquer it. Why? Because we work together, fail together and at the end of the day support each other the entire way. When the call went out that team Dunnebells was going to the 13km Super Spartan race, one by one the community rallied and signed up. For themselves, but for each other.

SPARTAN TEAM

On August 11, 30 members of the Dunnebells team showed up and braved the cold, wet weather to tackle the Spartan Super in Calgary. For so many of the team, an obstacle course was only something they dreamt about doing. For others, it wasn’t as scary and some had even done a race before so these people helped prepare the team both mentally and physically for what the super Spartan had in store for team Dunnebells.

What was the result? An even stronger team!

As a large team during 8-week weight loss program, we all had our strengths and weaknesses, but none of that mattered on the day. We helped each other on obstacles, shared the burpee load and crossed the Spartan finish line with smiles (and tears) as one.

So the question I have been getting a lot since running the Super Spartan with team Dunnebells is “Did the team bond strengthen during the Spartan race?” Yes. 110% yes. You see, “no matter which obstacle we face, whether it is on the course or in our everyday lives, the kind of team spirit that lives inside the Dunnebells community will help you push your limits both mentally and physically to brand new places”.


IS THE SUPER SPARTAN POSSIBLE?


With the right people, anything is possible. And with Dunnebells people, the impossible gets done with a smile on our faces. Dunnebells client can confirm “The best part about the Spartan Super was all the laughter. Even though it was hard and really cold, even on the most difficult legs of the Spartan race we found ourselves having fun and laughing”.

Dunnebells will continue to find different ways to strengthen the team spirit, but the Spartan super race is being marked down as one event never to forget. While some challenges are big, the team spirit is bigger. This definitely won’t be the last time you see the Dunnebells team taking the start line at Spartan. There is already talks about how we will conquer a trifecta together next year (in 2020) #AROO

TRAINING FOR A SUPER SPARTAN RACE

We didn’t do a ton of training during 8-week weight loss program, but everyone was allowed to attend some early morning Spartan Training workouts led by Dunnebells. We focused on 8 of the best exercises to train for your first Spartan race.

I think the best part about the Spartan Race is that you don’t have to follow a specific training plan to get ready for the race. There are people at all different fitness levels and everyone has their own set of strengths. With that being said, below are instruction videos on how to complete all of these movements so you can train for your next Super Spartan race.
